[Not a valid template]Born and raised in Kingston Jamaica started playing while attending Excelsior High School, first performance was, playing with one of the school house band. There he hooked up School mate Garth Bright and joined his band “Umoja” then New Horizon, and later Happiness Unlimited with manager and mentor Hart Richards a successful and prominent business man in Kingston who ran the famous Humming Bird and Mill restaurants. With the band Dorrel Salmon performed all over the Island and accompanied various local artist to name a few, B B Seaton, The Gaylads, Ken Boothe, Dennis Brown, Big Youth, Toots and the Maytals, Pluto Shervington. Dorrel toured with Jimmy Cliff on his 1986 European Tour.

1982 Happiness Unlimited Band was invited to Los Angeles by Steve Wonder to record an album recorded around eighteen tracks, completed twelve, the album was never released.

1984 Dorrel Salmon went back to Jamaica with some members from the LA project as a show band, but band couldn’t hold together because of varing family commitments location issues with the members.

1985 Dorrel  became Keyboard and asst mgr with “Hot Peppers” show band the brainchild of Hart Richards which  performed in most major hotels on the north coast and was the opening act for international acts, Ray Goodman & Brown, The Manhattans, and Billy Paul. Dorrel Salmon started recording of Hot Peppers first album co-produced with Carl Young who later founded Irie F M again the album fell short of completion when Dorrel migrated to LA in 1988.

1988 – 1995 found Gainful employment as new car salesman with Chrysler for a 1yr. then Ford for 4 yrs and as R/E Sales Professional with Century 21 before returning to music.

1995 – 1998 Dorrel Salmon performed with various Caribbean entertainment groups providing quality entertainment for Casuals, Company events and weddings throughout Southern California and Las Vegas.

Was also Keyboard player with the group Mongoose led by the Jewish leader singer Maimon.

1999 Dorrel  started his own band “Island Passion” and has done numerous functions; company parties, Regattas at Clubs, weddings and various events from Laguna to Santa Barbara including prominent hotels in Orange County.

Performed with Wailing Souls in Lake Tahoe & Utah

2001 Dorrel Salmon was selected to be the Red Stripe Ambassador in their promotional campaign.

2009 Red Stripe launched an internet campaign, with you tube, facebook with numerous new spots including a music video a remake of the song Relax from the hit Frankie goes to Hollywood, produced by Steven Marley.

2010 the busiest year with R/S doing numerous appearances as The Ambassador in  various cities, Connecticut, Chicago, Dallas,

2011 Dorrel Salmon releasing his debut Album titled “The World Will Remember You” title track voiced by Eric Walsh.

* Island Passion has been volunteering to entertain participants at the Susan G Komen Race for the Cure since 2005 in Newport Beach California.
